Today, Magda is 10 months old. To celebrate she spit up on my face (nearly made it into my mouth, too) and barfed for the first time ever when she had some trouble clearing something from her throat. She also had her first bit of whole wheat pasta and greatly enjoyed the fresh batch of pearsauce (like apple sauce, but made with pears) that I made for her this afternoon.
In the locomotion department, Stepan was playing with her on the floor of the bedroom and she actually maneuvered herself onto her hands and knees and crawled forward an inch or two. With subsequent attempts she was actually making forward progress, but was scooting along on her belly. I think it's time to invest in a heavy duty vaccum! The idea of the roomba appeals, but I think something more industrial would better suit our dirt and hair.
She is also starting to pick up baby sign. She's wonderful at waving hello or goodbye and she's been doing the sign for more for several weeks now. The only problem is that she thinks the "more" sign means "water". I think I've gotten her sign corrected, but she still does "more" first when she wants water. She thinks it's funny when I grab her hands and tell her, "that's not water!". That's almost guarenteed to get a giggle out of her.
My darling girl gives me kisses now when I ask for them. Also, she'll do it whether I ask in English, Spanish, or Czech! Her kisses are so sweet. She leans into me with an open mouth, trying to aim for my lips...it's too adorable for words. She makes my heart sing; I love her so much.
In other news, she babbles nearly constantly when she's awake and she is getting more and more mobil. She doesn't yet crawl on her hands and knees, but she is very good at dragging herself along the ground on her belly. Once she gets to where she was going, she huffs and puffs, grunts and groans, and pushes herself into a sitting position. She also is wonderful at keeping herself occupied with her toys. She enjoys putting things into and out of boxes...after she's tasted them of course.
I only wish that she were more into the solids. I think she may be over the really mushy solids - which sucks 'cause I have a freezer full of split peas, sweet potatoes, ground chicken, carrots, and squash. She does love bread though and fruits and yogurt and oatmeal. I think she'll now start eating infant potions of whatever we have for our own dinner. Of couse that means that I need to start preparing healthy, balanced meals for us!
