All Right Already!

I know I've been a complete and total slacker when it comes to my journal this year. I wish I could say it was because I've been completely engrossed in something so totally fascinating that I just had nothing left over of myself to give to my loving fans and readers...but alas that is not the case. Instead I'm reverting to my childhood habits: coming home from work, curling up under my fabulous faux fur throw blanket, and watching endless hours absolutely nothing on television. It's been very relaxing but I'm starting to feel like I need to step away from the couch and do something else for a while...not sure what...must eat lunch first. More late...I promise!

Shamefully Late

I recently returned an overdue book to the library and had to pay $3.50 in late fees. At twenty-five cents a day, I'll let you do the math to figure out exactly how late I was. By the way, late fees at the library are not considered a donation and aren't tax deductible...

Crazy Hours

Whew! I just sent out the last of the plan sheets for a project that has been keeping me in the office for way too many hours. I'll easily hit 50 hours this week and no, I don't get paid overtime, though I do get paid for the hours I work. The really horible thing was missing my cousin's birthday (I was at work until 11pm); I'll have to think up something really good to make it up to her. I'm really glad this week is almost over.

There are rewards though (aside from the big pay check at the end of the month). This morning, the entire office was called into the kitchen for an impromptu staff meeting. Yummy pastries from TFB were provided and I was presented with a gift certificate for a pedicure at Perfectly Polished as a token of appreciation for all my hard work this week. Now I just have to decide when to use it....if I use it this month I'll need to shave my legs, but if I wait until the spring (when I'll start shaving my legs for the summer), more people will be able to admire my toes since I mainly wear Tevas...

Modern Conveniences

I think my favorite modern convenience is indoor plumbing. There's nothing I enjoy more than a long hot shower in the morning and flushable toilets are pretty much priceless. I could live without a car if I had to. I could go without electricity. But shut down the water and I'm in misery.

Worried...Excited

I've been worried since yesterday afternoon, when I noticed a spot of blood in the toilet. The there was discoloration on my undies, and I just knew it was the start of another miscarriage. I called the doctor who advised me to go home and rest and come in for an exam in the morning. I'm thrilled to report everything is fine. There was no apparent reason for the spotting, but that's fairly common. Misty did a physical exam and the cervix was closed and the uterus was enlarged (as it's all suppose to be). The, just be sure, she sent me up for an ultrasound...COOLNESS!!!!...the ultrasound confirmed that I was at 9weeks and 0days. The baby is about an inch long and it's heart was beating at about 162bpm. What a relief. Now I have a picture to show the parents as well as the cell phone. Ear to ear grins...

Flowers From Beyond

I got flowers from my Aunt Tia and Grandma Lucio today. The card said
"Congratulations on your Achievement"...I guess the achievement mentioned
would be communicating with the dead, cause Grandma died 4-5 years ago and
Tia died in the 70s. Whatever the occassion, getting flowers is always a
wonderful experience. This time it was even more so since it also reminded
me of the love and care I continue to get from all my family...both living
and deceased.

Ping Pong

We've had a lovely day so far. At 10:30am, Stepan and I met the McHargs (including 1-year-old Eamon) for brunch at Trudy's. Afterwards, we went to Step's office to play ping pong. Stepan's current location is ideal for a toddler. The ping pong table is basically in a huge open room without much that Eamon has to be kept away from. He had a great time chasing the ping pong balls around the room and found some pretty, red, shiny Mardi Gras beads to suck on. He looked so tired, but he was in such an agreeable mood despite that. He is definitely a charmer.
