Last night, 3-year-old Jonathan spent the night at my house for the first time ever. We had a great time with him. We took Homer for a walk, played with my new toys and games, baked cookies, and read some books. Step and I are looking forward to having him over more often.
He's usually a little unsure of Homer when he comes over to visit. I think spending the night here has helped them both get over their natural hesitation with each other. When we walked this morning, Jonathan was calling to Homer and being very attentive to what Homer was doing and where he was going. The best part came when Jonathan was leaving and wanted to give Homer a cuddle :-)
I have a long-time, very good friend who has a birthday today. Unfortunately, I have no idea where she is or what she's doing right now...did I say she was a very good friend?...anyway, she left months and months and months ago to teach salsa in Denmark. Apparently, she's a huge hit in Europe because she keeps extending her stay. In any event, I hope she see this and I hope she has a very happy birthday.
Watch out world. My Dad is learning how to use a computer...it won't be long now before us Lucios completely dominate cyberspace!
I took the plunge on Friday and drastically changed my hairstyle. I don't remember the last time it was this short though I do remember having the Dorothy Hamill cut when it was in style in the 70s. It's been strange in some respects (I'm still trying to pull my hair out of my collar after I put on a sweater), but so easy to adjust to in others (it didn't take much time at all to get use to running my fingers through much shorter layers). I guess the real test comes tomorrow morning when I go to workout (my hair will no longer go into a ponytail) then wash it and try to style it myself (eek!).
Thanks for all the compliments on my new do. Allison Mack was the inspiration for the new style. I have thicker hair than she does so it didn't turn out exactly the same, but I still like it.
I cringe when I read things like the following at CNN:
All told, between February 6 and 20, there will be at least 20 hours of Jackson programming scheduled to air on broadcast and cable television.
And that obviously doesn't even count the numerous print and web news stories that have appeared about the broadcasts!
At least I'll be doing my part as a good, television-viewing American in the War Against Intelligence by watching the two-hour finale of Joe Millionaire tonight.
Poor Homer! He was in quite a mood this morning. Normally, he wakes up in the morning, comes to see if I'm ready to get up, then returns to his bed when I tell him that it isn't time yet. Today, he started getting up at 5am and kept coming back to wake me up every 5 minutes.
Finally, at 6:10a, I stumbed out of bed and fed him - hoping that would appease him for 30 more minutes. It didn't. I thought he might be restless because of the storm and wanted to have someone up with him. So I finally got up (5 minutes before the alarm went off) and started getting ready for the day.
I take my shower. Step gets up and gets in the shower. I ponder the sad state of my wardrobe. And the whole time, Homer won't quit pacing. I'm getting vaguely worried because I don't want Homer to be the type of dog that freaks out in a thunderstorm.
I'm happy to report that isn't the case. While we were brushing out teeth, Homer continued to pace around the bathroom. Eventually he starts semi-squatting every 2-3 steps...looking up at us pleadingly. When we realized he had dropped a couple of small round turds, the light bulb went off and Step rushed him into the backyard.
Poor, puppy. He probably had to poop for several hours and we just weren't getting the hint!
I'm making this entry from a Charter Pipeline kiosk in the after party of the Cowtown 10K. I'm pleased to report that Mom, Step, and I successfully completed the walk. Step and I tied at around 1:29:00 and Mom came in about 30 seconds later. I'll post more later when there isn't a line forming behind me for the terminal.
Big grins for everyone! We just got a call from Archie. Eamon Houston McHarg was born on Saturday, February 22, 2003. He weighed 7.5 pounds and was 21.25 inches long (or thereabouts). Mother, Father, and Son are doing fine. Apparently, he's a champion nurser and has already watched (or slept through) his first dance video. They aren't quite ready for visitors yet, but I'm eager to hear Jessica's opinions on her experience at The Austin Area Birthing Center...apparently she gave birth underwater!
