Blog Voyerism

I found this quiz on a random website that I linked to through blogtree. I was going to tweak my answers until I got a candy that I actually like, but realized the description here kinda does describe me.

Shoplifting?

Is it shoplifting if the store comes to your house and leaves something behind? I am in possession of a very nice black skirt and lacey, white shirt with camisole (courtesy of the Gallerita) and a pinkish, stretchy button-down shirt and a pair of black socks (from Mere-vyn's) :-).

Vin Fan

Stepan and I finally made it back to the movies last weekend. We tried to see Signs on Saturday, but it was sold out so we went to xXx instead. I'm now ready to join the Vin Diesel fan club...he's so cool and he seems to be a very likable guy - very personable. I liked xXx so much we went out and rented The Fast and the Furious when we left the theater - it wasn't as good as xXx, but it was still a lot of fun. Early last week, we saw him in an interview with Jon Stewart of The Daily Show. He came across as confident without being egotistical and very good natured. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for his movies.

We also saw Signs on Sunday. That was a very tense movie. I enjoyed it (Mel Gibson, M. Night Shyamalan....what's not to like?), but I certainly wasn't relaxed when the movie was over. That on top of the engaged encounter weekend at St. Louis made for a very exhausting weekend. I'm in desparate need of a nap!

Prague in Flood

Stepan assures me that none of his family should be suffering severe catastrophies from the flooding in Prague. The Prague Post Online has some amazing photos of the flooded areas.

Where do people find these things?

I was blog surfing again at blogtree. I got the following from Sometimes It Lingers... which was on the birthday list:

You are Kermit!
Though you're technically the star, you're pretty mellow and don't mind letting others share the spotlight. You are also something of a dreamer.

It's not easy being green :-)

As used in the comic strip This Modern World. I think it's referring to the 3rd definition:

Date: 1733

Attention Mom

I should be doing the last minute chores you're suppose to do before going away for the weekend (final walk for the dog, make sure everything is in order for the house sitter, water the plants, pack, etc.). As I'm working around the house, I'm listening to NPR on KUT. I just heard a report on a new company that I just had to stop and write about. The company is Life Gems and they take the carbon from the cremated remains of your loved one and turns it into a diamond. I find this a very interesting proposition. On one hand, it's kinda morbid:
"Oh, what a beautiful diamond pendant you're wearing!"
"Thanks, it was my dog who died last year."
On the other hand, it really would provide a unique memorial. One of the families the radio article spoke about is designing a family tree type plaque with the father's diamond going into the trunk and the other member's diamonds going into the branches as they become available...yeah, morbid, but fascinating.

I'm a Very Healthy Girl

I had a doctor's appointment this morning to check out some funky lumps I discovered this weekend. Turns out they were just my lymph nodes reacting the to bug bites that woke me up itching at some un-Godly early hour on Saturday morning....I hadn't noticed them the night before so I was sure we had bed bugs in the hotel bed with us (we were in Ann Arbor for Shannan and John's wedding). Anyway, my blood pressure is excellent (96/60) and I discovered that I had my cholesteral checked in 1999; the nurse practitioner told me they were some of the lowest numbers she's ever seen. Also, I weigh the same this year as last year - less would have been good, but I'm very happy it wasn't more.
