Stepan and I are going to a Halloween party on Saturday as Wednesday and Pugsley Adams...tonight, we go in search of our costumes - it should be pretty easy, though things like this never go as smoothly as you think they should.

I've been having so much fun during my first week as Stepan's fiance. I've already purchased the current issues of Brides, Martha Stewart's Wedding, and Bride and Groom Austin. I've also purchased a wedding planner (though I'm not sure I like the way the worksheets are laid out - I may have to exchange it for another one) and, for Stepan, What Every Man Should Know about Marriage by Henry Nathan.

Last weekend, we made a point of getting together with Archie and Jessica and Carlos and Diane. I got to tell Shannan and John (though they already know Stepan was planning to ask me). Tonight we're meeting a group of Stepan's former co-workers (who regularly meet at Zuzu's for dinner on Tuesday night) so a whole new group of people get to ooo and aaa over my beautiful ring....it's fun being a newly engaged person - I hope I still feel that way once plans for the wedding are in full swing!

I imagine that by now, everybody who reads my journal has already read Stepan's account of our fantastic trip to San Francisco. He definitely hit all the highlights. From the awesome Jeep we drove and riding bikes on the waterfront to getting engaged on the Golden Gate Bridge not to mention the sea lions, balancing rocks, Muir Woods, and funky public toilets (they cost a quarter, but after each use, they are automatically cleaned from top to bottom!)...I just can't say enough about how much I love San Francisco!

Many many many thanks to Stepan for giving me such a wonderful, romantic, everything-I-could-ever-wish-for-in-a-proposal weekend. I smile all over when I think about him...I just don't have the words to convey how much I'm looking forward to the next 70 (or so) years :-)

My Stepan is everything that is good and wonderful...Last night, after we came home from seeing The Tempest at the State Theater, he told me that I couldn't go to bed yet (I was really tired), I had to pack first!....That's right! I had to PACK FIRST!!! He's apparently been working hard to secretly plan a getaway for me. We leave this morning and return sometime on Monday - and I still don't know where he's taking me. It's isn't easy to pack when you don't know where you're going!

Shwew!...One major deadline at work has been met. I think this means that I don't have to bring work home with me anymore which also means that I can start unpacking after work. That will be a huge relief. I'm sure that Stepan is just as tired as I am of coming home to a house full of boxes.

The news continues to be depressing. I really hope our government officials know what they are doing, because I can't see any benefit from dropping bombs on Afganistan. As I heard someone say on the radio, waging a war on terrorism is a futile endeavour. There will always be evil in the world. And there will always be someone to incite unrest. And there will always be people to follow them. Crazy people who have no reguard for the sactity of life and who are duped or brainwashed to believe this violence could ever be sanctioned by God - whatever name you call Him.

I really need some time off. I've finding it very difficult to work today....which really sucks because I still have a ton of work to do in order to make all the deadlines my office is facing over the next few weeks.

I did get some time off last night. I purchased season tickets to the Austin Theater Aliance 2001-2002 season. Last night we saw The Man of La Mancha. I enjoyed it tremendously. It was a great production with the principal characters coming from NYC with lots of impresive broadway, television, and film credits.

Well, I was really happy to see the end of September, but it looks like October is going to be just as busy. With the deadlines I'm facing at WHM, I'll probably have a couple of 50 hour weeks this month.

Thank God for VCRs! Buffy premiers tonight and I'm devastated that I have to come back to work after my Portugues class - hopefully, I'll be finished by 10pm and can watch the 2-hour season premier before going to bed tonight. And speaking of devastation, I was horrified last night when I remembered at 9pm that I failed to put a blank tape in the VCR to record Angel before going to our dog obedience class last night! I'm hoping that my friend and fellow vamp fan, Kathy, can figure how to record the show from her TiVo system for me.

Here's some personal advice: Never let yourself get a paper cut with a sheet of mylar. While it isn't quite as bad as cutting your finger on the belved edge of a matboard, mylar can cut a lot deeper than regular 20# bond!
