According to this article at cnn.com, in 2001, Texas lost its number 1 ranking among the states for having the most death row inmates executed - a title we've held since 1996. Coincidently, George W. Bush was governor of Texas from 1995 to 2000. Also coincidently, in 2001 (with George W. Bush running the country as the court appointed president), for the first time in 37 years, a federal prisoner was executed. How's that for "compassionate" conservatism?
Posted by jfer at January 4, 2002 9:50 AMEveryone should keep an eye on what is happening to Enron. Jr. is (or was) up to his ears in that company. From what I have seen so far it sounds like everyone associated with Enron has gotten royally screwed...except the board of directors and other top executives! I wonder how GWB will fare?
